It is rather sad and pathetic knowing that the world still possesses obstinate and prejudiced individuals in this 21st century. It is even more painful that these narrow-minded thinking individuals are much grounded in our so called global hegemon, "God's own country". It is without prejudice that I make bold to request the Nigerian Government to make an official statement addressing these incessant verbal attacks from Americans and perhaps demand an apology and immediate retraction but alas we don't even have an Information Minister.
Firstly it was controversial Texas Senator Ted Cruz who said "You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately. They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website". A pitiable statement which came with a rather mollifying apology from the Republican. I thought American Senate was filled with sane people!
The final pang came with the submission of Ms Ann Coulter, a cheap courtesan whose racial obsession is only second to the late German Chancellor Adolf Hitler. Coulter has continually shown her disdain for immigrants in America claiming most criminals in her country are foreigners and this time she believes a large percentage of this group are Nigerians, such pulsating exaggeration. Hear her:
"After decades of our Third World-only immigration policies, one can't help noticing that Medicare and Medicaid are beckoning Disneylands for foreign-born thieves.
The problem isn't their complexion, it's their culture. In America, we think only dumb people become criminals. That's not true in the Third World! Nigeria, for example, leads the world in criminal enterprises. Every level of Nigerian society is criminal, with the smart ones running Internet scams, the mid-range ones running car theft rings, and the stupid ones engaging in piracy and kidnapping. At the University of Lagos, you can major in credit card fraud".
It is quite disappointing for a supposedly reputable journalist and lawyer who ought to know the implication of making careless statements to be found in this damaging situation. Madam Coulter has revealed her shallow partisanship and political pillaging in protecting the interest of her war loving republican party but then what do you expect from a 51 year old lady, three times engaged but never married, an act that is largely frowned at by the Nigerian culture...little wonder she so attacked it as being extremely criminal minded. It's funny that a lady of Coulter's status 'who keeps a low moral display of indiscipline' expects an entire nation to fit into her rather myopic concept of generalism. A lady of menopausal rank who has not been able to maintain a relationship leading to marriage. Would it be fair to conclude that all America's elitist ladies lead this lifestyle?!

I wouldn't want to dabble into it but what begs the question is why Americans have continuously blamed their inexpedient situations on non citizens but are quick to embrace the same people when they attain a positive feat. An example is the number of numerous Nigerian immigrants playing in their soccer league, thespians in hollywood, military men, doctors, nurses and several progressive men and women of Nigerian heritage working on american soil. Rather than face their problems squarely, they keep laying blames on us. This is really lacking the articulated superintendence America is reputed for (or which we were made to believe). I wonder why an issue which largely affects the generality of the American populace but is now being turned into a subject to vilify Nigeria. Coulter and her cohorts have failed to focus on their issues while defaming the good people of Nigeria.
